4 Reasons Why Metal Recycling is Important

1

Conserves Natural Resources

When metals are recycled, they can be used repeatedly without having to mine and process new materials. This conserves resources and reduces the strain on our environment.

2

Metal Recycling Uses Less Energy Than Mining

It takes 95% less energy to recycle aluminum cans than to create new ones. And recycling steel and copper saves more power – around 74% and 85%, respectively.

3

Metal Recycling Creates Jobs

The recycling industry provides many jobs, both directly and indirectly. Jobs in the recycling industry range from sorting and collecting recyclables to manufacturing new products from recycled materials.

4

Reduces Amount of Waste in Landfills

Landfills are a huge problem. Think twice the next time you’re throwing away that old can or piece of scrap metal. Recycle it. We can reduce waste in landfills and keep our planet clean.

Metal recycling is an essential process in Canada, and it helps to keep our economy strong and our environment healthy. By recycling metal, we can reduce the amount of energy that is needed to produce new metal products, and we can also prevent valuable resources from being wasted.
